Kireee Don: An Exclusive Look Ahead of “Music for Me” Release

Artist and music producer Anthony “Kiree Don” Darlington, one of the standout performers from the recent Rhyme Records artist showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, is set to release his highly anticipated album “Music for Me” on April 18th. The showcase, hosted by Official DQJ’s Rhyme Records, highlighted the incredible talent emerging from the DFW area and demonstrated the brights future of local music.

Now, in an exclusive interview on Bars & Balls “Don” as he likes to be referenced, shared insights into his artistic identity, what inspires him and which songs on his upcoming album were the most fun to make and also the most heartfelt. I wanted something that would resonate with my audience,” he explained. “I wanted everyone to listen and be able to find something that resonates with them. As a creative I think it’s the most selfless thing one can do.”

Upon asking the reason why Darlington took on the name Kiree Don, he mentions that his mom wanted to name him Anthony Kiree. Don came from his grandfather whowas named Don Laray. “I’ve got the best of both worlds.” he said.

Kiree also discussed his inspirations, noting that life experiences and community stories drive his music. “I can be inspired by a mom in the grocery store. The interaction between the two, or simply by just living life. It doesn’t feel like work, it’s easy for me.” he said.

As he prepared for the album’s release, we asked about the creative process behind it. Kiree highlighted the contrasting experiences he had while producing tracks.The most heartfelt song to write was We are Family because it required a lot of emotional vulnerability,” he admitted. In contrast, he found Roll with Me to be an easier creation, noting that the lyrics flowed naturally, capturing the essence of living in the moment.
